All About Our Wonderful Paraprofessionals

Our well-prepared paraprofessionals make an enormous difference in the efficiency of our classrooms and the smooth daily operation of CJ Harris.  These important staff members work closely with an assigned set of teachers and provide support to the teachers and students.  Within the classroom, the paraprofessional may work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills introduced by the teacher. Daily responsibilities include supervising students in classrooms, hallways, the cafeteria, gym, and during arrival/dismissal times. Other duties and responsibilities may include the following:

  • Distribute teaching materials such as textbooks, workbooks, papers, and pencils to students
  • Use computers, audio-visual aids, and other equipment and materials
  • Type, file, and duplicate materials
  • Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers
